Seattle where I live is a world class city, but still relatively small. The countryside around here is amazing, lakes, waterfalls, rain forests, and wages are good. It's a tech capital, and most musicians come through town with few exceptions. It's temperate, mostly between 45-70 degrees Fahrenheit.

It's also overcast 9 months out of the year, drizzling on and off during that time, some 100,000 people have moved into the city in the last 11 years, 721K with a road system designed for maybe 300k. It went in the time I've lived here from the most affordable major city in the USA to one of the least affordable. There is like most cities no real plan on how to handle the homeless issue, no place to house them, and nothing in sight. For a liberal city there's a libertarian element that means that even though it's leftist, it's poorly funded. Most of the people I knew in my 20's I'm still friends with have moved away because buying a house here is not affordable, and I did it during the mortgage crisis.
